I am Alex Mae. I founded our small, family-run business based on the Gold Coast, Australia. At Mae Ink, we take great pride in our craft, and committed to creating inks that are not only beautiful, but of the highest quality.

Although I don’t consider myself to be very good at art, my love for colours and my background in science have given me a unique perspective on creating ink products. I founded Mae ink in 2022, after years experimenting with different pigments and solvents, trying to find the perfect combinations that produce the most vibrant and stunning colors. Every ink is formulated using the safest ingredients, because we believe that artists of all levels of experience and skill should be able to access inks that are safe, not only for the artists themselves, but for the environment as well.

As someone who is autistic, I have always struggled with socialization and self-promotion, however our inks and customer service tend to speak for themselves, even when I can’t. As a family of autistic individuals, we approach our work with meticulous attention to detail and a deep understanding of the chemistry behind ink making, ensuring that every product that comes out of Mae Ink is of the highest quality.

Unfortunately, our autism means that we hate the telephone (yes it’s irrational, no we can’t change it, LOL), and have an answering service on our phone number. Despite this, you will find we are as passionate about customer service as we are about our ink quality and safety.
